Indy Fight for Air Climb Raises Money and Hope for Those Suffering From Lung Disease

(March 9, 2013)

On Saturday, March 9, nearly 800 people climbed Regions Tower in downtown Indianapolis in the American Lung Association Fight for Air Climb. The annual fundraiser brought in over $200,000, which will be used for research, education and advocacy in the fight against lung disease.

This year’s climb surpassed both fundraising and participation goals, and a new corporate fundraising record was set by Bose McKinney and Evans, whose team raised $9,631. Firefighters and EMTs raced the 768 steps up the tower, with the Fastest Firefighter Team award going to Pike Township Fire Department with a combined time of 30:41.

“We were so excited to see so many climbers and such great enthusiasm. One of the standout memories of the day was one our firefighter climbers, who climbed the Tower 10 times,”  said Liz Abren, Director, Special Events for the American Lung Association in Indiana. “We want to thank everyone who contributed and helped us raise funds for our mission:  climbers, our event committee, volunteers and staff, and we give a special thanks to our partner, Regions Tower, who makes the event possible each year.”
