Summary:

The Special Events Manager oversees all aspects related to the creation, coordination and execution of annual fundraising events with a focus on Walk and a secondary focus on assisting on other signature events. This includes securing sponsorship, participant recruitment, volunteer involvement, team building, marketing, budget, timelines, evaluation and logistics.

Reporting and relationships:

  • Reports to the Executive Director
  • Plays a key role on the Indianapolis Special Events Team and the ALAUM Development Team.
  • Works closely with regional colleagues.
  • Together with Executive Director staffs Lung Force Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and Women’s Cabinet.
  • Staffs all Lung Force Walk Committees per the best practice manual.
  • Coaches Lung Force corporate team captains and fundraising volunteers.
  • Together with the Manager of Special Events for Climb assists with Climb Kick offs and team cultivation.
  • Cultivates relationships and effectively engages volunteers.
  • Works closely with a variety of vendors and venues necessary for event execution.
  • Receives support from Administrative Assistant.
  • Works with counterparts throughout the Upper Midwest Region.

Critical Outcomes:

  • Achievement of special event revenue goals.
  • Together with the Special Events team, ensure a positive execution of all special events and expense management.
  • Together with the Special events team, ensure that all corporate sponsorship goals are met.
  • Oversees logistics execution of Walk event in the Indianapolis market.
  • Corporate Team recruitment and cultivation for Indianapolis Lung Force Walk.
  • Increase volunteer involvement in and leadership of special events.

Responsibilities:

  • Achieve revenue goals
  • Prepare and oversee expense and revenue budgets
  • Prepare and oversee event timelines
  • Staff event volunteer committees and assist in their fundraising efforts.
  • Oversee all event solicitations.
  • Prepare ongoing event progress reports.
  • Secure gala table and underwriting sponsors.
  • Recruit, coordinate and coach corporate event team captains and volunteers.
  • Together with the Marketing and Communications, prepare printed materials.
  • Evaluate event results and determine future direction.
  • Work with the Development team to cultivate event attendees.
  • Complete special projects as assigned by the Executive Director.

Qualifications:

  • Hold valid driver's license.
  • Abstain from use of tobacco in any form.
  • Willing to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to travel occasionally.
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs. (event supplies)
