UIC graduate students

We’re eager to put our University of Illinois at Chicago graduate nursing students in the spotlight for their volunteer efforts!

On Friday, May 18th, seven UIC graduate nursing students joined us for a day of service during our Healthy Lung Expo. They were easy to identify by their blue scrubs and assisted our patients’ wheelchair transportation needs including to and from their vehicles as well as in between exhibits and speakers.

There was an immediate companionship formed between the groups and we found our patients asking for these volunteers by name. After the event was over, and one patient group returned to their meeting place at a nearby hospital, one volunteer accompanied a patient down a long stretch of road to his bus stop so he wouldn’t have to go alone.

We’re so thankful to have a group of students like these to provide a valuable service for our Expo. Their warm smiles and friendly demeanors were icing on the cake and we look forward to seeing them again soon!
