Anita Indrelie

Fight For Air Walk Team Captain & Healthy Lung Expo Committee Member

We’re proud to put Anita Indrelie in the spotlight for her dedicated work with COPD.

Anita is a respiratory therapist who works with patients with a variety of different lung diseases. She found her true passion when she started working with COPD patients in out-patient pulmonary rehabilitation as both her mother-in-law and brother-in-law passed away from the disease.

Anita found educating patients on their lung disease to be very rewarding when she could see their health and quality of life improving with proper management and care. Working in a specialty program for patients awaiting lung transplant opened Anita’s eyes to the impact that all respiratory diseases have on patients and their families and she uses her personal experience to help relate. She says,

Working with the American Lung Association was a natural way for me to help educate and hopefully benefit this population.  COPD is the 3rd leading cause of death in the United States.  It is the only cause of death that is still on the rise.  With support, education and the funding the American Lung Association does, hopefully, we can see this trend change, for the better!

Anita has been involved with our Fight For Air Walks for several years as a team captain and helps host a Better Breathers club in Wheaton. She most recently has joined the Healthy Lung Expo planning committee and is a very dedicated volunteer. Look for her team, Gino’s Group, at this year’s Fight For Air Walk!

Thank you, Anita, for your dedication to the Lung Association and its work. We appreciate everything you do for us and for the lung health community!
