Responsibilities:
To work with the American Lung Association staff to implement community-based programs and special events.
Reports To:
Director, Mission Services
Position Goals and Responsibilities:
- Gain a basic understanding of the American Lung Association and nonprofit operations
- Become knowledgeable about Greater Chicago mission-driven programs and Signature events
- Participate in staff meetings and webinar learning opportunities
- Create portfolio upon completion of internship
- Work with Mission staff to implement and promote Program activities
- Develop marketing materials for Mission activities including brochures/event programs, etc.
- Coordinate preparations for Freedom from Smoking and Asthma Educator Institute clinics.
- Assist in preparations for Healthy Lung Expo
- Identify potential exhibitors and sponsors for the Healthy Lung Expo
- Assist with scheduling and speaker recruitment
- Coordinate logistics around planning and implementation of the Healthy Lung Expo
- Promote/distribute awareness materials for the Illinois Tobacco Quitline
Special Events:
- Volunteer at weekend special events during internship period when applicable.
Part-time, Unpaid Position:
Flexible Schedule
College Credit dependent on institution

Qualifications:
- Non-smoker
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
- Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher experience preferred.
