Responsibilities:

To work with the American Lung Association staff to implement community-based programs and special events.

Reports To:

Director, Mission Services

Position Goals and Responsibilities:

  • Gain a basic understanding of the American Lung Association and nonprofit operations
  • Become knowledgeable about Greater Chicago mission-driven programs and Signature events
  • Participate in staff meetings and webinar learning opportunities
  • Create portfolio upon completion of internship
  • Work with Mission staff to implement and promote Program activities
  • Develop marketing materials for Mission activities including brochures/event programs, etc.
  • Coordinate preparations for Freedom from Smoking and Asthma Educator Institute clinics.
  • Assist in preparations for Healthy Lung Expo
  • Identify potential exhibitors and sponsors for the Healthy Lung Expo
  • Assist with scheduling and speaker recruitment
  • Coordinate logistics around planning and implementation of the Healthy Lung Expo
  • Promote/distribute awareness materials for the Illinois Tobacco Quitline

Special Events:

  • Volunteer at weekend special events during internship period when applicable.

Part-time, Unpaid Position:

Flexible Schedule
College Credit dependent on institution

Qualifications:

  • Non-smoker
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher experience preferred.
