Membership & Membership Applications
The Southeast Thoracic Association (SETA), the medical section of the American Lung Association of the Southeast, Inc., is composed of physicians, researchers, nurses, respiratory therapists and other health care professionals who work in academic institutions, private practices, hospitals and scientific research settings throughout Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.

Membership provides the opportunity to contribute to efforts of the American Lung Association of the Southeast, Inc. as an information resource. Additionally, it presents opportunities for professional education and networking throughout Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.

Membership Categories:
Southeast Thoracic Association membership shall consist of four (4) classes: Active, Associate, Senior and Honorary.
Candidates for Active, Associate, and Senior membership shall submit an Application for Membership, curriculum vitae or BioSketch and, as applicable, payment of dues.
Active Members
Active members of SETA shall be elected from those physicians in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina holding either a doctor of medicine or a doctor of osteopathy degree. All must have evidenced an interest in lung disease.
Only Active members shall vote or hold office.
Applications shall be reviewed by the Membership Committee and, if their qualifications are found to be in order, may be elected by a majority vote of those present at the Annual Meeting.
Associate Members
Associate members shall be limited to Ph.D.s, nurses, paramedical personnel, graduate students, medical students, interns, residents and fellows during their period of training, respiratory therapists, pulmonary technicians and other qualified health care personnel. Associate membership includes all privileges of Active membership, except for voting and holding office.
A candidate for Associate membership shall be recommended by his/her chief of service and approved by the Chairman of the Membership Committee or his/her designee. When eligible, an Associate member may request transfer to Active membership. This change of membership shall be granted upon election by the Membership Committee.
Senior Members
Active members who have retired may request the Membership Committee, in writing, for transfer to Senior membership. Senior members shall have all the privileges of Active members with the exception of voting and holding office.
Honorary Members
Honorary members shall be those individuals who have obtained special recognition in respiratory diseases. They shall be recommended for membership by the Membership and/or Executive Committee, and elected by a majority vote of the membership at the Annual Meeting of the Association. They shall not be entitled to vote or to hold office.
