Ronald Saff, M.D.

Volunteer of the Week

Dr. Ronald Saff is an asthma and allergy physician who is using his experience and expertise to support causes that will help people with lung disease breathe easier, working with the American Lung Association in the Southeast Florida in their mission to save lives. Among his efforts he has taken on various coal plants in Florida and won! This scored a huge victory for lung disease patients in that area.

Dr. Saff's most recent accomplishment was obtaining a Resolution Recognizing the Importance of Vehicular Idle Reduction. He achieved this by recruiting various members of the community to attend meetings with the Mayor's office and County Commissioner. He also reached out to American Lung Association offices across the country for help. The Resolution was adopted and Dr. Saff continues to follow up with the county to make sure that steps are being taken to implement the No Idling Zones. His efforts with the No idling Resolution will bring a great amount of relief to children with asthma who get picked up from school. County vehicles will have a minimum idling time, which will make it easier to breathe around them.

Dr. Saff is also an avid fundraiser. His yearly donations help the Association to fund the much needed research helping to find a cure for lung disease. He has also been a cash sponsor of an asthma walk for several years. Dr. Saff rotated off the board in 2007, but continues to serve as a passionate volunteer and continues to donate to the organization. He also has ties with the medical community that has allowed him to recruit other medical professionals for their knowledge and input when attending meetings, writing letters to the editor, and mail campaigns.  The American Lung Association would like to thank Dr. Saff for all his efforts to support healthy air by naming him Volunteer of the Week.
