Donna Murphy

Donna Murphy has been a wonderful asset to the American Lung Association in California for more than 10 years – and still counting. She started working with the organization as a consultant for the San Diego Regional Asthma Coalition, and eventually transitioned her time and energy as a volunteer respiratory therapist for the American Lung Association in California Southern California Asthma Medical Program (SCAMP) Camp. Donna took on this role because she enjoys helping children understand and better manage their disease.

She is also a community advocate for the organization, helping people understand that while smoking might be pleasurable for some, it can have deadly consequences to our lungs. As President of the Better Breather Club in East County, Donna helps educate COPD patients and their caregivers how to improve their quality of life as well as some of the latest medications and techniques. Aside from running her own BBC, Donna is also willing to help out and talk to other BBCs in the San Diego region.

Donna volunteers for the American Lung Association in California because she hopes that a time will come when everyone can breathe clean and healthy air. She currently works as a Clinical Specialist at Sharp Grossmont Hospital Respiratory Department and is also a clinical instructor at Grossmont Community College.
