Volunteer

The American Lung Association in Alaska has volunteers donating their time and talent statewide.  Without our strong volunteer corps, none of our programs would be able to succeed.

Volunteers for the American Lung Association in Alaska do everything from assisting with mailings, to program design and implementation, to staffing events and serving on our Leadership Council.  There are opportunities available for every interest and skill level.

The following is a list of specific day-to-day volunteer opportunities available in our Anchorage office.

VOLUNTEER OPORTUNITIES BY DEPARTMENT

The following departments encompass a wide range of skills. The listings are broken into categories with skills specific to those areas. Some volunteers may have strength in one or all of these areas. Please indicate on volunteer application what department, then by number, the area(s) where your skills lie. Then, list which specific duties your strengths would best fit.

 

Example: A/2- “I have 5 years’ experience working as an admin assistant in the accounting department. I am proficient with Microsoft Word/Excel. This would make data entry and expense reports a good volunteer job fit for me”.

  • Calling and thanking donors
  • Writing thank you notes to donors

  • Data Entry
  • Filing
  • Maintain expense spreadsheet
  • Complete expense requests

 

      3. Marketing

  • Graphic Design
  • Posting flyers and brochures promoting events
  • Contacting promotional partners
  • Updating community calendars

 

      4. Events:

  • Help sort event gear
  • Process donations
  • Phone calls to potential participants to help recruitment
  • Data entry if people register on paper instead of online
  • Help secure donated items for event

  • Keep Library stocked and organized
  • Help move items into storage as needed
  • Help removal of paperwork no longer needed
