New Fiscal Year Brings Changes to American Lung Association of the Upper Midwest Board of Directors

 Chicago, IL  – The American Lung Association of the Upper Midwest welcomes a number of new board members to its ranks. Dr. Todd A. Mahr, Director of Pediatric Allergy/Immunology at Gundersen Health Systems in La Crosse; Jessica Hoppe, Relationship Manager for Alerus Financial in Fargo, ND; and Connie Perry, Regional Director of Business Development for Iowa Hospice.

As of July 1, 2012, new officers have also been appointed. Alan Rowe, Associate Vice-President, Institutional Effectiveness for Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, IA, is the new Board Chair; Dr. Michael Busk, System Executive, St. Vincent Health, Wellness & Preventive Care Institute in Indianapolis, is Chair-Elect and William Stephan, Vice-President for Engagement at Indiana University has been appointed Secretary.

Additionally, to honor their years of service, The American Lung Association of the Upper Midwest has named three research awards in honor of retiring Upper Midwest board members: The Roger J. Kuhle Lung Cancer Discovery Research Award, The John F. Emanuel Biomedical Research Award and the Audrene Lojovich Social Behavior Research Award.

Two retiring board members have gone on to join the national Lung Association. John Emanuel, a partner in the Wisconsin law firm of Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek has been appointed Secretary/Treasurer of the National American Lung Association Board of Directors and Audrene Lojovich will serve as Speaker-Elect with the American Lung Association National Assembly.
