Manager, Mission Programs
Responsibilities:
The American Lung Association of the Upper Midwest is a voluntary health organization serving a seven state area including Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Our mission is to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease. The American Lung Association has been fighting for the lung health of all Americans since 1904. Today, the Lung Association fights to reduce smoking, clean the air we breathe, and find cures for lung disease.
Position Description:
The manager will plan, implement and evaluate interventions focused on working with communities on policies and practices that promote smoke-free secondary campuses and cessation services for a 7 county area in the NE region of MN. This position will also coordinate efforts with other activities occurring in the community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for planning and implementing grant funded interventions related to tobacco free post-secondary campuses in a 7 county area in NE MN
- Develops and manages work plans for activities related to the interventions
- Facilitate the building and development of partners and coalitions on secondary campuses
- Tracking and reporting duties for quarterly reports and evaluation purposes
- Prepares and delivers presentations to community groups
- Develop program materials
- Communicate and coordinate with public health partners in 7 county region
- Attend and actively participate in local and regional meetings related to the project
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have experience in grassroots organizing as well as an understanding of tobacco control policy and advocacy.
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience in community organizing, health education, or social sciences
- Experience in non-profit organization, preferred
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with diverse audiences
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
- Strong communication and organizational skills, including personal, written and public speaking
- Proficient in basic computer skills specifically word processing and use of the internet
- Works effectively as a team leader and coalition member
Other Requirements:
- Hold valid driver’s license and carry and maintain private automobile insurance
- Abstain from use of tobacco in any form
- Necessary to work evenings and weekends on an as needed basis
- Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs (event materials)
