Jennifer Sherrill
Jennifer Sherrill, Revenue Generation Chair on our Austin Leadership Council, is the epitome of the adage, "If you need something done, ask a busy woman."
Jennifer's accomplishments in her two short months as Revenue Generation Chair for the Austin Leadership Council have been tremendous: she brought Austin's Leadership Council Giving Campaign to 100% and doubled the previous year's giving total two months shy of the December 31st goal!
When presented the challenges of her new role, she used her legal training to break down the tasks into smart, achievable goals. She built her committee by appointing Chairs for different lines of giving: Corporate, Individual, Events. Jennifer also took many hours of personal time (what she calls her "gentle nag" approach) to make calls, send emails and write personal thank you letters to every person who gave.
Jennifer describes herself thus: "I am a mother of four kids and wife to my superhero, Chris Thompson. In my free time, I am counsel with Fulbright & Jaworski working primarily on real estate and litigation matters. My family and I attend St. Austin’s Catholic parish where I pray fervently for patience and guidance. Our family spends a ridiculous amount of time at soccer practices, baseball games, dance recitals and school events. My favorite thing is sharing my love of reading with our children. I also enjoy traveling (without the children), snow skiing and throwing rocks (with the children)."
Jennifer is modest. Behind her elegant poise and warm empathy, is a woman of steel. As counsel in Fulbright's Austin office, Jennifer Sherrill focuses her practice on real estate matters involving commercial and multi-family residential property sales and purchases, construction, development, commercial leasing, property related disputes, and oil and gas matters as well as general and real estate-related litigation matters. Jennifer has managed large scale international investigation projects involving more than 230 attorneys from multiple Fulbright offices and she specializes in privilege issues related to internal investigations. Before joining Fulbright in 2006, Jennifer was Assistant General Counsel, Litigation Counsel and Director of Real Estate for a Fortune 500 manufacturing company. She was second in command for all litigation and was responsible for internal investigations and compliance matters. As Director of Real Estate, she managed a portfolio of more than 550 leased and owned properties, both domestic and international. She is President-elect 2013 for CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women), who nominated her for "20 under 40." She has been published and is a frequently sought-after public speaker.
When asked about her involvement with the American Lung Association, she responded, "I was introduced to the Leadership Council by a colleague and found an organization that had real potential to make life-changing contributions to our community. I am excited to work with the ALA and I would like the Leadership Council to become even more active in promoting American Lung Association initiatives. I think this year we are well on our way to building a solid foundation for the years to come and will be able to set a new trajectory of leadership and continuity for the organization - to build on experience, share knowledge with new members of the Council, to utilize our networks, to capitalize on continuity in staff support – to carry the progress and momentum over from one year to the next."
We are proud and fortunate to have Jennifer Sherrill as one of the stars in our constellation at the American Lung Association Austin Leadership Council!
