Lung Cancer Summit on CT screening

September 24, 2013  Conference Center at Waltham Woods

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States – it kills more than 150,000 people each year.

New guidelines strongly recommend screening high-risk populations with low-dose helical CT scans, based on the decisive findings of the National Lung Screening Trial (NLST), published in 2011.  The NLST showed conclusively that CT screening reduces mortality rates, but services in our Massachusetts hospitals are still inconsistent and insurance coverage hasn‘t yet caught up with the weight of evidence.

It’s time for us all to step up to the challenge and work together to save lives from lung cancer.

The American Lung Association of the Northeast, collaborating with the Lung Cancer Summit Planning Committee, is bringing together key stakeholders including healthcare providers, local hospital executives, patients, advocacy groups and payers for this unique event to:

  • Be part of a vital partnership with the American Lung Association to drive action and influence our work to save lives
  • Learn about the practical aspects of setting up a lung cancer CT screening service
  •  Hear diverse perspectives from an interactive panel
  •  Network and share experiences

This event is by invitation only.  For further information please contact: Sarah Phillips, Director, Medical & Scientific Branch, American Lung Association of the Northeast, telephone 781.314.9003, email
