State Plan Positions Vermont as a leader in Asthma Care and Prevention

(July 10, 2013)

The Vermont Department of Health released the new 2013-2018 Asthma State Plan which lays the framework for asthma to be incorporated into an environmental context. A focus on environmental triggers in the home, school, and workplace setting is essential to the proper management of asthma. Environmental policies that promote renewable and clean energy, reduce vehicle emissions, and improve indoor and outdoor air quality standards will help direct the future of asthma care, both from a clinical and public health perspective.

According to the American Lung Association of the Northeast, the 2013-2018 Asthma State Plan  will position Vermont to be a leader in asthma care and prevention efforts and improve the health of all Vermonters.
