Another Reassuring Study on LABA-ICS Safety in Asthma

(July 9, 2012)

David J. Amrol, MD, in Mass Medical Society’s Journal Watch comments that a new population-based, observational study from Michigan, finds that ICS–LABA combined therapy had a protective effect on asthma exacerbations compared with ICS monotherapy.
This study supports the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program guidelines for step-up therapy with LABAs for asthma that is uncontrolled on low-dose ICS.
