The Partnership for Prescription Assistance reached at 1-888-4PPA-NOW offers a single point of access to public and private assistance programs, including those offered by individual pharmaceutical companies.

NeedyMeds helps people in need find assistance programs to help them afford their medications and costs related to health care.

The Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan makes health insurance available to people who have had a problem getting insurance due to a pre-existing condition.


ConnPACE – A service that helps eligible senior citizens and people with disabilities afford the cost of most prescription medicines.  Call 1-800-423-5026, toll-free in Connecticut; or 860-269-2029, local in the Hartford area.

PPARxCT - A program that connects qualified, low-income people with discount prescription drugs, direct from the pharmaceutical manufacturer.  Call 1-888-477-2669

The CHOICES program - Connecticut’s program for Health insurance assistance, Outreach, Information and referral, Counseling, Eligibility Screening - provides health insurance information to persons age 60 and older and persons with disabilities.  Call 1-800-994-9422.

Connecticut Medical Assistance Program

The Office of Aging Services website  provides consumers with assistance with navigating Medicare.



SHINE Program: The SHINE (Serving the Health Information Needs of Elders) Program provides health insurance counseling services to elderly and disabled adults. SHINE counselors are trained to handle complex questions about Medicare, Medicare supplements, Medicare Health Maintenance Organizations, public benefits with health care components, Medicaid, free hospital care, prescription drug assistance programs, drug discount cards, and long-term health insurance. Prescription Advantage: 1-800-243-4636 press 2 - The state prescription drug assistance program for seniors and people with disabilities in Massachusetts, which helps pay for medications not covered under Medicare Part D (“donut hole”).

New Hampshire


The NH Medicaid program pays for certain health care costs, including prescriptions, for individuals with low incomes. Toll free phone: (800) 852-3345, ext. 4344

The NH Medication Bridge Program is sponsored by the Foundation for Healthy Communities and assists individuals with lower incomes who do not have insurance coverage for prescription drugs. Income limits may vary widely depending upon the medication and manufacturer. Telephone: (603) 415-4297.

The NH ServiceLink Resource Center Network is a statewide network of community-based resources for seniors, adults with disabilities and their families. There is no cost related to use ServiceLink and it is available to anyone who needs assistance, advice or help with an issue relating to a senior or disabled adult living in the community. Rhode Island

The Rhode Island Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Elderly (RIPAE) program pays a portion of the cost of a range of prescription medications according to income guidelines.  For RIPAE information, call 462-3000 (Voice) or 462-0740 (TTY)

The University of Rhode Island (URI) Pharmacy Outreach Program assists Rhode Island residents regarding the availability of free or low cost medications. The Outreach Program also provides educational seminars, health screens, and discussion groups on health related topics and information on the use of prescription medications. United Way 2-1-1 Rhode Island provides all people in Rhode Island with free access to community resources.  Dial 2-1-1 from anywhere in Rhode Island.


Green Mountain Care is the official State of Vermont website for free or low cost health insurance plans for Vermonters.

Vermont 2-1-1 provides all people in Vermont with free access to community resources.  This access includes personal assistance by telephone (dial 2 1 1 from anywhere in Vermont) and online through a searchable database of services.
