Amica Insurance “Steps Up” in the Fight for Air
One of the oldest insurance companies in the nation continues their support of the American Lung Association
Providence, RI (February 8, 2012)—
On February 25, participants will race, or walk, to the top of One Financial Plaza in downtown Providence to raise money for lung disease. For the third consecutive year, Amica Insurance, with corporate headquarters in Lincoln, has signed on as premier sponsor for the Peak the Plaza Fight for Air Climb.
“Amica Insurance is proud to sponsor the American Lung Association’s Fight for Air Climb,” said Patti Genovese, sponsorship specialist at Amica Insurance. “We support the American Lung Association’s mission to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through education, advocacy and research. We know our support of this year’s event will help to accomplish this mission and positively affect all individuals touched by respiratory illnesses.”
Amica Insurance prides itself on an ongoing commitment to philanthropy. Because of that commitment, Amica supports a number of charity events and non-profit organizations, in the past, present, and foreseeable future. With more than 3,200 employees in 40 offices across the country, Amica not only sets a good example, but also encourages their employees to adopt the same sense of giving back, even if it is simply a few hours of their time spent as a volunteer.
All athletic abilities are welcome to participate in the Fight for Air Climb. Climbers can walk, or even race to the top and compete for a trophy. Teams can be corporate, friends and family, or members of the community. Each participant is responsible for a $35 registration fee and a $100 fundraising minimum, due by event day. The American Lung Association reinvests seventy-eight cents on every dollar to support their mission.
Fire departments from all over New England will take part in the firefighter competition, dressed in head-to-toe gear. For the last three years, the Fall River Fire Department of Massachusetts has walked away with the trophy. It is not too late to register a team of firefighters, but act fact, because the registration fee is set to increase to $50 in the upcoming weeks.
Following Peak the Plaza, an after party and awards ceremony will be held at McFadden’s Restaurant & Saloon, 52 Pine Street, just a short walk from the building. There are gold, silver and bronze medals given out for each gender and age group, as well as awards for top individual and team fundraisers. McFadden’s will offer specials on burgers and beers, as well as their extensive menu, to all in attendance.
Other sponsors for the event include: GTECH Corporation, Lefkowitz, Garfinkel, Champi & DeRienzo P.C. (LGC&D), Metlife, Northeast Recycle Group, McFadden's Restaurant & Saloon, One Financial Plaza, 95.5 WBRU, Electric Boat Corp. and BankRI.
