Run for the Lung Association in the TCS NYC Marathon: Charity Runners Sought

Five charity bibs available to run in the Marathon on Sunday, November 2

(May 6, 2014)

The American Lung Association of the Northeast is seeking charity runners to support its lifesaving mission by running in the TCS NYC Marathon on Sunday November 2. The Lung Association has five guaranteed entry charity bibs available for runners who commit to raising $5,000 dollars each to support the Lung Association’s ongoing efforts to promote healthy lungs and healthy air.  Runners who have already gained entry to the Marathon are also invited to join the American Lung Association of the Northeast’s 2014 Marathon Team and are asked to raise $100 per mile, or $2,620.  Last year Marathon runners contributed more than $24,000 to support the Lung Association’s mission of saving lives by preventing lung disease and improving lung health.

“The Lung Association has been a participating charity in the New York City Marathon for five years now and it has been a wonderful experience,” said Jeff Seyler, President & CEO of the American Lung Association of the Northeast.  “While this event is well known for its crowd support, elite racers and celebrity sightings, the individuals who choose to run in the marathon on behalf of a charity are the real stars in the minds of people battling debilitating diseases like lung disease.   Those running on behalf of the Lung Association bring us closer to realizing our vision of a world free of lung disease with every stride they take.”

Runners who choose to run on behalf of the American Lung Association of the Northeast will be heavily supported in their efforts to achieve their fundraising goals.  Each runner will receive a fundraising guide, monthly fundraising support calls, and a personal fundraising website.  All team members will receive an American Lung Association of the Northeast dry-wick singlet and an invitation to the team’s recognition dinner.

To inquire about joining the American Lung Association of the Northeast’s team, contact team coordinators Jaime Anderson janderson@LungNE.org and Serena Arrabito sarrabito@LungNE.org . Please indicate whether you are interested in one of our available charity bibs or if you have already secured entry and are interested in running with the Lung Association’s team.
