Domus Kids and Stamford Fire & Rescue Raise More than $1,000 to Benefit the American Lung Association

Car wash fundraiser supports the Fight for Air Climb in Stamford

East Hartford, CT (October 13, 2012)

On Saturday, October 13, the American Lung Association of the Northeast joined Stamford Fire & Rescue and Trailblazers Academy, operated by Domus, for a car wash and fundraiser at the school on 83 Lockwood Avenue in Stamford. Twenty students braved the cold while collecting donations and educating the public about their involvement with the American Lung Association. The students raised $1,000 to go toward their fundraising requirement for the American Lung Association of the Northeast’s “Tackle Trump Parc” Fight for Air Climb on November 3.

The students of Domus prepared for the fundraiser by creating signs to post around town. Jimmy Tarzia, Team Captain for the Stamford Fire Local 786 Fight for Air Climb team, rallied support from friends, family members, and fellow firefighters to make the day possible. Among the Stamford Fire representatives were Dante Vartuli, Adam O'Neil and Roman Balzar; the new recruits volunteered their time in helping the kids reach their fundraising objectives only two days after starting with the Stamford Fire Academy.

“It’s great for the students to be learning about charity and working hard towards a common goal,” said Stamford’s 2012 Firefighter of the Year Frank Docimo. “Things are really looking up for the department, especially with our new group of guys. I am really proud of them for stepping up and am optimistic for the future of Stamford Fire with them onboard.”

Special thanks to New York Sports Club, Lily & Camelia Photography, Stamford Mortgage Company Warshaw Capital LLC, and volunteer group Backyard Humanitarian for their support of the car wash. Stamford Fire and the kids from Trailblazers Academy will all compete in the Tackle Trump Parc Fight for Air Climb.

The 4th annual Tackle Trump Parc will be held on Saturday, November 3, at Trump Parc in downtown Stamford. Participants will race, run, or walk up the 571 stairs to benefit the American Lung Association of the Northeast. Each climber is responsible for a $35 registration fee and a $100 fundraising minimum due by event day. For more information, visit or contact Event Manager Britney Martin at 917-210-5642.
