Volunteer Spotlight: Sam Lipson

American Lung Association celebrates volunteer appreciation week

Waltham, MA (April 19, 2012)

The week of April 15th, 2012 is recognized as National Volunteer Week. The American Lung Association celebrates their beloved volunteers year-round, but recognizes truly exceptional volunteers on this occasion.

Sam Lipson took it upon himself to contact the American Lung Association back in 2008 and ask if he may sit on their Leadership Board. As the Director of Environmental Health at the Cambridge Public Health Department, Sam brings his years of experience and expertise in the matters of environmental health and air quality issues.

“By being a vocal and active advocate for stringent clean air laws, Sam continues to play a vital role in helping the American Lung Association achieve its mission.  He has been an outstanding member of the Healthy Air Campaign, readily writing letters to the editor, assisting with media and city council outreach, and regularly updating his own grassroots network of volunteers about campaign and air quality activities,” said Jeff Seyler, President & CEO for the American Lung Association of the Northeast.

Since becoming a Leadership Board member, Sam has sent himself apart with his passion and immense knowledge. He often speaks at Healthy Air Campaign press events, stressing the importance of stricter air standards, and advocating for change. Day in and day, out Sam’s dedication to clean air and healthy lungs helps support and further the mission of the American Lung Association.
