Volunteer Spotlight: Lou Venezia

American Lung Association celebrates volunteer appreciation week

New York, NY (April 17, 2012)

The week of April 15th, 2012 is recognized as National Volunteer Week. The American Lung Association celebrates their beloved volunteers year-round, but recognizes truly exceptional volunteers on this occasion.

Lou Venezia got involved with the New York City Fight for Air Climb last year and has quickly become an integral part of the event. “Lou has been instrumental in helping us raise awareness, develop relationships, and promote our events. He is a pleasure to work with and has truly developed a passion for the work that we do,” said Jeff Seyler, President & CEO for the American Lung Association of the Northeast.

Lou put together an enthusiastic team of firefighters from the Bloomfield Fire Department who climbed their way to first place in 2011. He challenged himself to create a team of 30 for 2012 and surpass his fundraising from the previous year. Lou’s team ended up being the largest team to climb this year, as well as one of the top fundraisers.

Lou has already secured his place in the Fight for Air Climb next year, and he is sure to remain just as spirited about the event, and the mission of the American Lung Association. It is because of Lou’s passion, drive and positive energy that he has been able to secure support from his community.
