American Lung Association celebrates volunteer appreciation week

Jon LevyThe week of April 15th, 2012 is recognized as National Volunteer Week. The American Lung Association celebrates their beloved volunteers year-round, but recognizes truly exceptional volunteers on this occasion.

Jon Levy, ScD, started with the American Lung Association in 2011, speaking about the health and economic benefits of the Clean Air Act at a press conference held by the organization. “Dr. Levy regularly provides thoughtful and insightful advice to staff on campaign strategy and makes himself available to talk to the media on behalf of the American Lung Association. He is a most valuable volunteer with the Healthy Air Campaign in Massachusetts,” said Jeff Seyler, President & CEO for the American Lung Association of the Northeast.

Dr. Levy is a professor of Environmental Health in the Department of Environmental Health at Boston University School of Public Health. He researches and quantifies the environmental and health impacts of air pollution and, in this role, has served as an expert for the Lung Association’s Massachusetts Healthy Air Campaign.

Dr. Levy readily attends press conferences, editorial boards and legislative meetings to speak and answer questions on the topics of air pollution and the Clean Air Act. His speaks with conviction and his passion for the mission of the American Lung Association is evident to those who have come in contact with him.
