Event Info

The American Lung Association in Massachusetts' Autumn Escape Bike Trek is a fun, 3-day, 160-mile 'at-your-own-pace' tour along Cape Cod, Massachusetts (2-day, 105-mile option available.) Designed to attract the expert and novice alike, this adventure from Plymouth to Provincetown combines competition and leisure in a weekend filled with beautiful scenery, prizes, entertainment and support along the way. We ride RAIN or SHINE and provide overnight accommodations, medical and technical support, food and beverages and more!
Rental bikes are available for a nominal fee.

NOTE: Register on-line today as sleeping accommodations are limited and will be assigned on a first come first served basis.

Registration

  • Register today with a $75 registration fee (non-transferable, non-refundable, not tax-deductible) for the 3-day ride.
  • Register today with a $55 registration fee (non-transferable, non-refundable, not tax-deductible) for the 2-day ride.
  • Raise and pre-collect a minimum of $500 for either ride.

Since safety is a priority, as of January 1, 2010, children under the age of 7 cannot participate in the Trek. Children between the ages of 7-12 MUST ride on a tandem bike or tag-a-long and all children under 18 must have an adult guardian (limit three children supervised per adult). Children ages 7-17, must fundraise a minimum of $400 each. All other trekkers, must fundraise $500 each in addition to the registration fee.

Over the past 20 years, trekkers have raised over $2 million dollars in the fight against lung disease. This year is our 28th ride and the American Lung Association in the Northeast set a goal of raising $260,000 in an effort to provide educational programs and fund lifesaving research benefiting families and children.

Accommodations & Transportation

We provide participants overnight accommodations in cabins at two summer camps, Camp Burgess in Sandwich (Friday) and at Cape Cod Sea Camps in Brewster (Saturday). Towels are provided, but you will need to bring your sleeping bags. Both camps are rustic but comfortable, however riders and volunteers wishing to stay off site may do so at their own expense.  If you choose to stay off site you must provide your own transportation to and from camp.

Breakfast and dinners are provided free of charge to all registered Trekkers and Volunteers.

Buses will provide return trip back to both starts on Sunday afternoon from Provincetown.  Your bikes will be transported back to where you started at no extra charge.

Luggage

Luggage trucks will be on hand to take your overnight bag and sleeping bag at both start locations.  Please limit your baggage to a reasonable weight (35 lbs.).

Ride Support

Prior to the ride we will offer training tips for our newer riders or anyone interested in improving their cycling skills.  Route notes or queue sheets are available for each day and are handed out at the start of each day.  The course is well marked (arrows on pavement) and completely supported. Riders travel at their own speed and support vehicles patrol our route. Bike technicians are available should you need assistance. We carry all your luggage to the finish line facility each day and you will be well fed and well cared for throughout the event.  There are 3 Rest Stops each day (every 15-20 miles), and each Rest Stop is stocked with snacks, fruit, water, sports drink and more.  Medical Staff patrols the route and will be located at Rest Stops and Overnight Stops.
