Sharon Larkin

My lung champion is my Aunt Sharon Larkin, who we recently lost to Lung Cancer this past May 2010. We lost her at the young at of 59. My aunt was not a smoker so it was a shocker when we got her diagnosis. She was an amazing wife, sister, daughter and aunt to me and my family. My Aunt Sharon is by far the most courageous and strongest person I have ever met. She was a dedicated Uconn football and baseketball fan and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at her summer cottage in Rhode Island. She adored her precious dog Jessi which was her rock and stayed by her side for the 2 years she fought this disease.

My best memories were our traditional girls weekends where my aunt would take me and my 2 cousins for the weekend to her house and we would do crafts, movies and just spend what I see now as some of the most precious and memorable times I ever had. She is someone I miss everyday and Im honored to be doing this climb in her memory. I plan to continue the fight and to do whatever I can to bring awareness to this disease.
