Development Manager

American Lung Association of the Northeast seeks a Development Manager working between our Springfield, MA and East Hartford, CT offices. The Manager will work with staff and volunteers on major special events. Duties will include participant retention, pledge enhancement and retrieval, promotion of mission, solicitation of in kind donations, event logistics, expense control, volunteer management and reporting, marketing events, solicitation of sponsors and media partners and more.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
  • Results-oriented professional with a minimum of one year of successful experience in fundraising, networking, community organizing and/or outside sales skills required.


  • Proven experience in recruiting, training, and delegating to volunteers preferred;
  • Work efficiently and effectively with limited supervision;
  • Management experience preferred and a high level of customer service skills;
  • Creative thinker with an ability to juggle multiple tasks and projects;
  • Superior written communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills and ability to connect to and articulate the American Lung Association’s mission is critical;
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Work, Excel, and PowerPoint;
  • Experience with Convio or similar fundraising software application preferred;
  • Adept at social media platforms; Travel required within assigned geography;
  • May be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; Flexibility to work nights and occasional weekends
