Mike Kuntz

Since leaving the American Lung Association staff in 2009 to start the Bourbon Chase, a 200 mile relay race through Central Kentucky, Mike Kuntz has remained engaged in ALA’s work and mission.  Mike even selected the Lung Association as an official Bourbon Chase charity, and this year, runners in the Bourbon Chase raised over $40,000 to support the programs and services of ALA.

Mike is also an invaluable volunteer each year on the American Lung Association Bike Trek to Shakertown as the driver of our refreshment van, which services the rest stops for the cyclists.  The fact that he gives up three days to volunteer on the Bike Trek is especially significant, since the event comes just weeks before his own Bourbon Chase.

Mike has also served as a technical advisor on the Smoke-free Kentucky Campaign.  His in-depth experience as the Smoke-free Louisville Campaign Chair and his years as the ALA in Kentucky’s advocacy director give him insight into the political process that he willingly shares with the current Regional Leadership Campaign.

The entire Kentucky staff appreciates Mike’s energy, passion, and experience.  Mike is a valued volunteer, and also, a friend.
