Tennessee Asthma Taskforce
The State of TN Asthma Task Force (STAT), convened in the summer of 2007, with membership representing a broad spectrum of statewide organizations, institutions and individuals with a vested and earnest interest in reducing the burden of asthma in our state. STAT was directed by legislative statute in the summer of 2008 to develop a statewide plan to reduce the burden of asthma in TN schools. The directive included a deadline for submitting the draft plan back to the legislature for approval before the beginning of the 2009 school year. In the early spring of 2009, the CDC requested that STAT expand the plan to a comprehensive statewide plan to address the burden of asthma at every level and to submit it to them for funding consideration. STAT is currently waiting for funding approval and hoping to initiate implementation of the plan this fall.
