Take to the Stairs and Fight for Clean Air

INDEPENDENCE OH (11/14/2011)(readMedia)-- If the stairs don't take your breath away, the view from the top of the Terminal Tower will.

The American Lung Association in Ohio is holding its 2nd Annual Fight For Air Climb in Cleveland on Saturday, March 3, 2012, and they're looking for hundreds of participants to help them in their fight for clean air for everyone!

On event day, climbers, walkers, runners, firefighters, cyclists and supporters of the American Lung Association will climb Terminal Tower in downtown Cleveland. The participants will challenge themselves to climb 42 flights of stairs, 804 steps, while raising money to help support the fight against lung diseases. The goal of the event is to raise $60,000 to support lung health research, education and advocacy in Northeast Ohio.

The climb festivities start with the 8 am registration with the actual climb getting underway at 9:30 a.m.

Among the participants will be firefighters competing in the Firefighters Challenge in full gear; competitive climbers looking to being the fastest up the steps and fastest in their age group; and those participants who will climb at their own pace and just want to reach the top.

The Climb will finish in the early afternoon. All festivities take place at the Terminal Tower, 50 Public Square, including an after-party sponsored by Tower 230 Bar & Grille.

The registration fee for the Fight for Air Climb is $15 through December 31, 2011. From January 1 to Climb Day, it will be $25. In addition, participants must raise a minimum of $100 to participate and can quality for a variety of incentive prizes based on the amount of money they raise.

Lung diseases such as asthma and COPD cannot yet be cured, but they can be managed. Making sure people know what's needed to take control of these lung diseases is one of the American Lung Association's top priorities. 35 million Americans are living with chronic lung diseases such as asthma, lung cancer and COPD. Lung cancer is America's #1 cancer killer.

You can climb as an individual or form a team with family and friends.
