Fashion, Food & Flair With Medieval Theme

Louisville (September 10, 2010)

Unique new fall show promises fashion, food and fun with a medieval flair

Hear ye! Hear ye!  What manner of medieval madness may ensue when modern day Louisville gives way for a trip back in time to the 13th century?

The answers can be found this October at a one-of-a-kind fashion show being organized by community volunteers to benefit two local nonprofit organizations.   Modern Day Woman Meets Medieval (K)Night  is an evening of “medieval madness” filled with fashion, food and spirits, facts, fiction and fundraising. This event is sponsored and produced by Alter Ego Women’s Apparel with all proceeds to benefit the American Lung Association and Frazier International Historical Museum.

It all takes place Thursday, October 7th, from 5:30 to 8:00 PM at The Frazier International Historical Museum.  Guests will begin the evening on the rooftop garden, enjoying hors d’ oeuvres by 211 Clover Lane Restaurant, open wine bar and  complimentary whiskey flight, lovely raffle items and live music by Guilderoy Byrne.

Later in the evening, Mayor Jerry Abramson will give attendees a warm welcome as guests are treated to a fashion show featuring apparel with a medieval flair from Alter Ego’s fall and winter line.  The show will include a lively—and dare we say, educational—encounter with authentically represented figures such an armored knight, a rakish rogue and even a damsel in distress.  As the intrepid “time travelers” visit each station, they will hear a series of dramatic vignettes delivered by live interpreters, courtesy of the museum. They will also get their passports validated at each stop to get their names in a drawing for a fabulous grand prize.

At 8:00 PM there will be a drawing for the grand prize, dinner for two at Proof on Main and a night’s stay at 21c Museum Hotel, an award-winning hotel hailed by Conde Nast Traveler as the #1 hotel in the U.S.

Tickets are $100 per person and include admission to the museum, plus complimentary parking (9th Street).  Reservations are requested by September 27th.  Checks can be made payable to AlterEgo for ALA/FIHM and sent to:  AlterEgo, 1321 Herr Lane, Louisville 40222.  Credit card payment is also available.  Call AlterEgo at 426-2435 for more details.
