I am climbing in memory of my dad who died of COPD in 2001 after a long and painful struggle.  I began racing in 2006, at age 39, so he never had the chance to watch me race or see what a wonderful impact running has had on my life.  He took me up to the top of the Carew Tower several times when I was younger.  I pin a picture of him on my singlet when I run the Carew Tower, so he will be with me as I climb.

I am climbing because I am blessed to have the physical ability to do so when there are so many people across this country and around the world who cannot because of lung disease or asthma.
