Olivia J. Diaz-Lapham
Executive Vice President, California
Olivia J. Diaz-Lapham is Executive Vice President, California. Prior to this, she served as President and CEO of American Lung Association in California until the Lung Association united into a single nationwide organization on July 1, 2017.
Diaz-Lapham began her non-profit career 30 years ago with The American Cancer Society in Cleveland, Ohio as a Special Events coordinator. In 1986, she moved to Atlanta and worked as the Income Development Manager for the Atlanta City Unit. From there, she became the Metro Special Events Manager, the Special Events Director for the Georgia Division and the Income Development Director for the Southeast Division. It was during this time that she became involved with Relay For Life and ultimately became one of the four founding members of the Relay Business Unit for The American Cancer Society.
As the Managing Director of Field Engagement Strategies, Relay For Life became one of the most successful not-for-profit events in the world raising more than $3 billion through 5,000 events by 2009. Relay For Life also was the guiding force behind Celebration on the Hill in Washington, DC. This event was the only one to ever bring constituents from every congressional district to DC to successfully lobby for cancer funding.
In 2010 Diaz-Lapham joined the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as Executive Director for the Greater Los Angeles Chapter, and in 2013 became the Area Executive Director over Orange County, the Inland Empire and Greater Los Angeles.
Diaz-Lapham believes that the battle against cancer can, and will, be won. We are getting closer each day.
She is extremely proud to lead the charge against lung cancer and the fight for clean air and healthy lungs for all Californians.
