Special Events Coordinator (STP #1617-27)

The American Lung Association of the Upper Midwest has a great opportunity for a Special Events Coordinator to join our incredible team in our St. Paul, MN Office.

In this role, you will be responsible for assisting with all assigned aspects related to the coordination and execution of annual fundraising events including the Fight for Air Climb and Oxygen Ball. Responsibilities include achievement of revenue goals through volunteer recruitment, participant coaching, team and relationship building, marketing, and logistics.


  • Working together with other members of the events team to meet or exceed annual revenue goals. Participates in the creation, planning and management of new and existing projects.
  • Coordinates and manages event logistics: develops and manages event project timelines and implementation. Monitors and prepares ongoing event progress reports.
  • Recruits, coordinates and coaches community event team captains and volunteers.
  • Cultivates relationships and effectively engages volunteers.
  • Works with the Development team to increase event participation and revenue.
  • Serves as liaison for customer service and troubleshooting for signature events and internal kickoffs.
  • Serves as location lead for the development of event websites and content updates, utilizing ALA best practices, software and guidelines.
  • Manages the implementation of e-communications, mailings and donor acknowledgements.
  • Works with the Marketing and Communications department in the creation of special events promotional materials.
  • Manages the utilization of ALA databases and e-commerce platforms, Convio & ROI, serve as special events lead on ROI.
  • Works with the Marketing and Communications department in the creation of special events promotional materials.
  • Completes special projects as assigned by the Senior Manager and Executive Director.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing or related field preferred.
  • One or two years of fundraising experience preferred.
  • Superb organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) and with website communication, social media and database systems.
  • Familiarity with InDesign and Convio helpful.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Superb organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage details and follow through with a minimum amount of direct supervision.
  • Flexibility to work occasional irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license. Ability to travel occasionally.
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs. (event supplies).
