Intern Job Description

Job Title: Events Assistant - Internship

Purpose: Under supervision of Special Events staff assist with:

·     LUNG FORCE Walk and Fight for Air Climb

·     Donation requests

·     Participant and volunteer recruitment

·     Communications pertaining to special events participants

·     Logistics planning

·     Preparing/ producing marketing and media materials

·     Preparing print materials

·     Assist with volunteer coordination for all fundraising events

·     Building community relations

·     Coordination of sponsor benefits

Time Commitment: Prefer 8-12 hours per week – schedule may be flexible, based on project requirements. Time commitment may increase as event/project deadlines approach.

Supervisor: Rachel Predebon, Volunteer Coordinator

Organization: American Lung Association in Michigan

Training: On-the-job training will be provided as necessary.

Duties:

·     Actively follow-up with participants, volunteers, and in-kind donors

·     Collect, organize, input and ensure accuracy of all registration information from participating sponsors and/or individuals for respective projects

·     Assist with office duties, answer telephone, respond to event related questions

·     Volunteer recruitment and organization

·     Secure in-kind donations and logistical items for event day including refreshments and entertainment

·     Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

·     Willingness to work on a flexible schedule and to travel throughout the city (no overnight travel required)

·     Computer experience (Word, Excel, Power Point)

·     Well developed organizational skills with attention to detail

·     A self-starter with a strong desire to learn

·     Must enjoy working as a team member

·     Good communication skills- written, verbal and phone

·     Self-directed, enthusiastic, and creative

·     Positive attitude and flexible

·     Customer-service and relationship-building focus

·     Must be able to lift a 40lb box

·     Must have valid driver's license and own transportation
