The Board of Directors is the governing body responsible to the public for the American Lung Association’s mission and effectiveness. The Board is responsible for establishing the strategic direction of the organization and ensuring accountability nationwide.

Nationwide Assembly
The Nationwide Assembly is a body of volunteers from the 10 Chartered associations that coordinates and advises the nationwide organization on the best course of action for the American Lung Association’s three areas of mission delivery: Education, Research and Advocacy. The Assembly complements the work of the Board of Directors and provides a natural flow between the more strategic and visionary work of the Board and the day-to-day work of the Field.
